Options for handling undeliverable (catchall) email

By default all otherwise undeliverable incoming email addressed to non-existant @yourdomain email addresses (aka "catchall" email) is forwarded to the default account. Customers preferring to handle catchall email in a different manner have several different options:

(1) Changing the catchall account to an alternate email address

  • Login to your Mail Administration cPanel
  • Click on the "Default Account" link
  • Select "Forward to email address:"
  • Enter the email address you would like to forward the 'catchall' mail to

Undeliverable email sent to your domain will now be forwarded directly to the alternate email address you specified.

(2) "Bouncing" catchall email

  • Login to your Mail Administration cPanel
  • Click on the "Default Account" link
  • Select "Discard with error to sender"
  • You can enter the bounce message you would like to be sent (default is "No such person at this address")

Undeliverable email sent to your domain will now be refused and a failure notice will be returned to the sender.

(3) Deleting catchall email

  • Login to your Mail Administration cPanel
  • Click on the "Default Account" link
  • Select "Discard with error to sender"
  • You can enter the bounce message you would like to be sent (default is "No such person at this address")

Undeliverable email sent to your domain will now be deleted automatically with no notice sent to the sender.
