How do I transfer hosts?

Changing hosting companies can sometimes be a long and stressful process. HostRocket tries to minimize this, and make it as easy as possible. If you're thinking about changing hosting companies and would like to make the switch to HostRocket, here are the steps you should take.

The first step in changing hosting companies is to research and choose the best company for your needs. HostRocket offers a wide variety of hosting plans for every type of website. Once you choose your plan, fill out the order form on our website. Within minutes you will receive your welcome email from us containing all of your accounts login information.

Using the test URL from your welcome email, the next step is to transfer your files from your current hosting company. You can do this via FTP, or by re-publishing the site using your program of choice. Once your websites files have been uploaded to your account on our server, you can login to your Mail Administration Area, and setup your domains email accounts and forwards.

Once everything is setup on our servers, you can change the DNS on your domain to point over to us. This is usually accomplished by contacting your domains registrar, and changing the name servers. Any DNS change can take up to 24-72 hours to resolve properly. Once this period of time has gone by, your domain name will now be pointing toward your HostRocket account. When you have verified everything is working properly, you can close out your old account with the previous host.

If you have any questions on this process, or need more information about our hosting plans, please contact our sales department: http://hostrocket.com/contact.html
